About Dr. Sunita Rao

Dr. Sunita Rao completed her DM in Neurology from NIMHANS Bengaluru and undertook a fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, with a focus on vascular neurology and epilepsy surgery.

She is the programme director of Medanta’s certified stroke centre — one of the first in North India to achieve the American Heart Association’s Gold Plus Stroke Achievement Award.

Clinical Programmes

Stroke

Leads a 24/7 acute stroke team with a door-to-needle time consistently under 40 minutes. Experienced in IV thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy coordination.

Epilepsy

Conducts non-invasive and invasive epilepsy workup using video EEG monitoring, MEG, and SEEG. Collaborates with neurosurgery for epilepsy surgery candidates.

Movement Disorders

Manages Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia. Coordinates with the deep brain stimulation (DBS) programme for surgical candidates.
